Learning Martial Arts At Home
It should be said right off the bat that you cannot get the same level of training watching online tutorials that you would get from an instructor in person. It is like saying you will become a chess master by watching people play.
Online tutorials, like Australian betting sites, do serve a purpose however. You can pick up basic motions or techniques that you can easily drill at home to build a strong foundation for future teachings. It should be noted however, that depending on which martial arts style you choose to learn, it can be very easy to learn improper techniques that become very difficult to unlearn.
What online tutorial videos also help with is giving you an idea of what physical movements represent a certain style. You can then try these moves out at home until you find a style that you feel suits you best.
Many martial arts beginners may also find it tough to pay martial arts school fees, which again make online tutorials videos very attractive. It should be noted that many big martial arts schools may be happy to trade your services for lessons. There are many martial artists who started their training by offering to clean classes or help out with odd jobs around the gym in exchange for free lessons. Teachers who want to teach will teach.
Going Online For Lessons
If this fails however, let’s look at some notable YouTube channels that can give you a great start in your martial arts journey. These videos don’t always focus on single styles but rather give you selected techniques taken from various styles. Pure training is always the best option but these martial arts buffets help you learn more about martial arts from a beginner’s perspective.
- fightTips –one of the best channels on this list, fightTips is a great place to start for any martial artists. Like many of the other channels here, this channel has a multi style focus that does dilute the training experience a bit, but as a beginner there are some great tips and techniques to have a look at.
- MMA Surge – This channel focuses on MMA techniques along with training tips and more. While this channel features allot of bells and whistles it does feel a bit bland at times. That said the multiple camera angles and enthusiastic presenters help you learn techniques fast.
- Master Wong – Easily the most fun channel on this list. This martial artist specialises in Wing Chun, Tai Chi and Jeet Kun Do along with physical training videos and even cooking videos. This teacher, despite his fun and energetic presentation has a very traditional training approach where hard work and dedication will pay off for students.
- Kwonkicker – Mainly focused on Tae Kwon Do, this fun channel has excellent videos for beginners who may be interested in getting started in this excellent martial arts style.
- FightSmartTrav- This channel is collection of “how to” vids with some handy entry level information for basic MMA holds and locks. Again this channel does not focus on a single martial art style, but instead helps beginners built a solid foundation for their technique.
